Dr. John D. Parker received his medical degree from Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario in 1984. Following three years of training in Internal Medicine at Queens, he went to the Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston where he completed five years of clinical and research training in cardiovascular medicine. He returned to Toronto in 1992 to take up his first faculty position as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto based at the Mount Sinai Hospital.He holds the rank of Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology and at the University of Toronto and is a Senior Clinician Scientist within the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute. He is a clinical investigator with interests in vascular pharmacology, endothelial function, autonomic physiology and renal dysfunction in heart failure. His research is done in humans and explores both the pathophysiology of disease states and the impact of drugs on cardiovascular function. An active clinical program involving patient care supports these clinical research activities.
