Dr. Amer Johri is a Professor in the Department of Medicine, at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada. He completed his Level III Echo fellowship at Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Johri has served on the Boards of the American Society of Echocardiography and Canadian Society of Echo. He is the immediate past Chair of the American Society of Echo (ASE) Circulation and Vascular Ultrasound (CAVUS) Council. He is the founding editor and publisher of POCUSjournal.com. He is currently the Treasurer and Executive Board member of the Canadian Society of Echocardiography. His research focuses on the innovation of ultrasound-based techniques to enhance CV risk stratification. Current thematic areas include cardiopulmonary POCUS, CV screening of special populations such as women and indigenous peoples, analysis of vulnerable atherosclerotic carotid plaque through 3D, composition, and novel ultrasound contrast applications. He is the founder and director of the CINQ Lab which is currently pursuing collaborations in the areas of artificial intelligence for vascular analysis. The CINQ lab has formal research partnerships with several major industrial organizations and global networks. Dr. Johri holds multiple CIHR grants as PI and is a Heart and Stroke Foundation clinician-scientist. He has over 150 peer-reviewed publications. He was chair of the ASE guideline for the assessment of carotid arterial plaque by ultrasound. He also chaired the recent ASE POCUS for COVID-19 Assessment statement. Dr. Johri is passionate about education and curates the podcast for the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography (JASE) and is an editorial board member.
